Zach...

Tera's Notes:
One weekend I received
an email asking about another Boxer we had for adoption. As it turned
out she had a pending adoption. However, I quickly wrote a reply to the
gentleman who had emailed inquiring about her. I only had a few minutes
and truthfully couldn't imagine anyone taking me up on my offer. I
briefly said I'd received a call that morning about a Boxer who was
going to be euthanized in LA but I didn't have a foster home and wanted
to know if he'd be interested in fostering and if all worked out he
could adopt. I warned him that surely the dog would have kennel cough
and heaven knows what else and that it was a risk but he could help save
a dog's life. Was he game?
I figured, "He'll say
no and I'll have to pass on this one but at least I tried." Low and
behold, Kevin showed up at our adoptions, ready and willing to take in
this boxer who for a whole hour or so had the name Monte and quickly was
renamed Zack and affectionately know as Raymond, as in "Everyone loves
Raymond..."
This is Zack and
Kevin's story told by Kevin in his updates. He has to be one of the best
homes we've ever adopted to and it's the best feeling to get his emails
and to know that he makes such an effort to keep us posted. We live for
his pictures in our rescue....
I
guess the moral of the story is take a chance. Throw out a line and see
if someone grabs it b/c if it weren't for Kevin taking us up on our
offer, Zack wouldn't be here to be his new buddy.

Hello Tera,
Well we got through the first
night great. Monte-Zack is a great dog...he rides in the truck like
a pro and is very well behaved. He knows "come", "sit", "stay", and
is very good on a leash. He likes to sleep with me, and slept
through the night. This morning he woke up a boxer puppy, full of
energy, playful and very very curious...it is now 10:30 and he is
asleep in my office at work! Everybody loves Zack. Thank you for
allowing me to pick up Zack yesterday, I am really glad I e-mailed
you Friday and you were able to call me. I know every dog has a
story and I wish he could hell me his. He is such a wonderful dog I
can not imagine why he ended up the way he did. Everyone is saying I
have my smiles back. I mist my white boxer, and Zack and I are
becoming buddies.

Dear Tera, Well Day 2 with
Zack is going great, what can I say when a dog only wants to be
with you and make you happy...
As for the collar and
leash he went home with, let's just say the collar is in tack,
but the leash is all but useless. He has managed to chew up the
leash while I was looking so I need to replace it and get it to
you. He takes his meds like a pro and he doesn't cough or sneeze
much at all. He is a perfect puppy and needs to be with someone
all the time. He knows word "NO"' and
tries very hard to be good. He's fascinated with horses and
wants to play with them as if they were a dog. So far we haven't
run into a cat yet, but it doesn't seem like he doesn't have a
mean bone in his body. I gave him a bath today and am treating
his ears for fly bites. Everybody loves Zack, I might need to
change his name to, RAYMOND. Let me know what I need to
do next.
Thanks again for
introducing me to Zack... KEVIN

Tera, Zacks done at
the vet, got his stitches yesterday and is doing great!
However Zacks thinks he is a human and sits in a chair at
work. I let him do what ever he wants as long as it dose not
get him in trouble....He loves to play ball now as long as
it is a soft white spongy ball and not a tennis ball. Check
out the picture, he is always sitting in my office if he is
not sleeping!
I have a friend who is
looking for a female boxer or rottweiler if you know of any
who need a very good home
1-27-05
Well its been over
a month since I picked up Zack...
what a charmer he
is, I can not take him anywhere without people making a
fuss over him. "What a great dog", "he is beautiful",
"your so lucky", "where did find such a good looking
dog?" It goes on and on.......
I tell everyone to
think about adopting before buying from a pet
store...Zack would make a good poster child for
adoption.
Anyway, I just
wanted to give you an update to let you know everything
is wonderful
Tera,
Well its
spring time and Zack is doing great...I bought him
an acre in Norco this month...he loves to run, run
,run. I guess I am going to move there so he can
have a very big yard all to him self even though I
still take him to work with me every day! Anyway I
thought you might like an up dated picture of what
he does at work . Everybody loves Zack so I call him
Raymond most of the time. Today we go to a
specialist for his skin problem...Boxer Falliulitice
or something like that. Boy, Boxers seem to have all
their own little names for what ails them... We are
doing great.
5-31-05
Well its been awhile since I
have sent you any up dates...Zack is doing really great. He loves
his new home in Norco and after every weekend he pretty much sleeps
for 2 days....Nobody still believes I rescued him, In fact most
everybody wants him and are staking a claim for him if I die!
Crazy don't you think? I
have made the yard "dog safe" and Zack can run the entire acre
without getting hurt or escaping, not that he would run off. I think
he is very attached to me, kind of like a shadow, I still take him
to work with me, and even on dates...like me, like my dog. In most
cases I think its the dog. Too bad because I am a really nice
guy... Well enough, here are some recent photos
Take care and let me know if I
can help with anything...
7-29-05
Well its summer time in
the country. I am very settled in Norco now and Zack loves his
new place. We built a dog park at the house instead of a horse
arena. I am building 5 kennels instead of horse stalls. We are
going to invite overnight guest and have a foster home for lost
dogs. Zack has turned out to be a really really great companion
and has not missed a day of work yet. He still gets a bath from
the groomer every other week, and he loves playing in the
sprinklers at home. The girls in the office get upset if I don't
bring him to work, and would rather he come and I stay home.
What a life he has...I hope all is well with you. Again I can't
thank you enough for putting me together with Zack.
3/15/2006
I know sometimes we all take on more than we can chew (ha ha) dog
talk, but to this day I still can not believe how blessed we both are
Zack
and I to have been put together the way we were. My house is almost
ready to take in 2 or 3 rescues as a foster parent. I have been working
at getting the kennels in and l should be done by mid April.
Zack, well he is still "unbelievable" I take him with me everywhere
everyday. We can be found at Starbucks in Norco on the weekends in the
mornings where everyone still gives him soooo much attention and can
not believe his rescue story. He is in great health, stocky build and is
a very happy dog. He has a new Boxer friend who moved in across
the street who comes over a couple times a week to play for hours.
Zack was in a magazine article with me last month, it was an asphalt
trade magazine and when the guy came to take pictures of me at work
Zack jumped right on my lap and wanted to be in the picture , sooo since
he is better looking he stole the show. I will send you a copy and you
will
see what l mean...
So not too bore you with more Zack stories l will try and come by Petco
and
l do need some Advantage flea stuff if you sell it...Life is great in
Norco and
Zack has been a real blessing tell everyone about you guys every chance
l
get.
Kevin and Zack
Update:
4/24/2006
Tera,
Zack up date...well to begin with Zack has a new friend...It seems we
now have a cat and a kitten who showed up last week. She gave birth in a
cardboard box on my patio table on a rainy day last week. Zack found
them when we came home from work on Friday and was concerned for their
well being. Zack gave up his travel cage so they would be warm and safe
and well, mom and her kitty are doing well. She is tame and lets me hold
her and her kitty. She is a kitty herself and gave birth to 4 which 3
were still born. The baby's eyes are open and she is starting to move
around a lot. Mom eats twice a day and takes real good care of her
baby. Zack is wanting to be a daddy and well I'm not sure what to do
next. l do not have much experience with kitties so maybe you can give
me some guidance. I'm sending a picture of Zack with e-mail and will
follow up with a picture of the kitties... Zack is still the
best...everyday l say a prayer thanking God for the work you guys do. It
was once said by someone famous " lf dogs don't go to heaven l want to
go where dogs go"
God bless you guys...Kevin and
Zack
Here I am with Zack at work, as printed in California Asphalt Magazine's "Featured
Contractor" What a handsome...dog!

7/12/06
Tera, well another day in paradise with Zach. On Monday, Zach showed up
in the
Orange County Register Business section along with other lucky dogs who
get
to go to work with their buddies. Of course he was the best looking dog
in the
article, no really take a look and you will see what l mean! Ha Ha...
Everyday l thank the Lord for you guys hooking me up with this Boxer who
just seems to what only one thing in his life and that is to make
everyone happy and like him. He really gets his feelings hurt if
somebody acts like they don't like him... even other dogs. l hope all is
well and l will come by and see you guys at Pet Co real soon Kevin
