Spencer...

Dear Zaraslist Rescue:

It has now been a little over a year since we adopted our dog Spencer (formerly Maestro) from your rescue at a pet and feed store near Norco (this was during the horrible fires).  Spencer was very scruffy and about 8 lbs underweight, but as you can see, he cleaned up nicely.   I can’t tell you how happy he has made all of us.  My husband, our 2 year old son  and I just love Spencer and are thrilled that he is a part of our family.  Spencer has such a gentle, sweet personalities that we now have plans to train him to be a therapy dog.

About 6 months we moved into a new house and it did not have a fence in the backyard.  We were so concerned about Spencer’s safety, that we would take him out into the backyard on a leash every day until the fence went up.  We had these adorable photos taken of Spencer and wanted to share them with you.

Last summer we went to San Diego for a few weeks for vacation.  Of course, Spencer came along.  He spent some time at the beach and pool and just loved it.  He really likes being with people and being as beautiful as he is, he gets attention everywhere we go.

We are currently trying to train Spencer to be a therapy dog.  I think it will take a little while.  Spencer is truly a member of this family.  We include him in just about everything we do and are grateful everyday that he has come into our lives.  Thank you so much for rescuing Spencer.  We just love him!

Update!

Happy New Year! It has been about a year since I last wrote to you about our dog Spencer (formerly Maestro), so I thought I'd give you a quick update.  Spencer is an amazing dog.  He and my now 3 year old play together all the time.  Spencer has learned to get regular "doctor" check-ups from my son.  Spencer lays down and my son examines Spencer's ears and heart, gives him a shot and of course puts a band-aid on his paw when it is all over (luckily it is just a piece of plastic that looks like a band-aid or we'd have fur issues).  The look on Spencer's face when all this is being done to him is absolutely hilarious!

Happy Birthday Spencer
Hi Tera –

I hope all I well with you. This past week, our Spencer turned 4 (we made up that birthday for him since we didn’t know). He is such a wonderful dog. Our older son Brandon is now 4 and loves to run around in the backyard and play ball with him.
He is always saying to me how happy he is that Spencer is our dog and telling me that he thinks Spencer is just beautiful. We also now have Zachary, our 10 month old. Spencer loved Zachary from the time he came home from the hospital. Even when Zachary pulls is fur or tail because he doesn’t know better, Spencer never complains and just ends up giving him kisses or walking away.

We really are lucky to have such a wonderful, easy going dog. Thank you and your mom again so much for rescuing Spencer. We just love him!
