The rescue received a call from the Hesperia Shelter that they had a
seizure of dogs and were in need of rescue to help come in and take them
or they'd have to be euthanized. Zara's List sent out a plea to all the
foster homes and asked them to help out and low and behold several new
fosters stepped up to help.
Michelle Metz and her family stepped up to foster Simon. He was a long
legged, middle aged, Chi who was a bit scared of everything. They had
never fostered before but they were willing to help save a life until we
could place him. It didn't take any special skills, just a willing heart
and a willing spirit. She took him home and introduced him to the family
and well, he stayed. And now, he's "Bad to the Bone" with his buddy.
Michelle and her family opened their home and their hearts and it saved
Simon's life. Whether he stayed with her family or was adopted to
another family, their willingness to foster, saved his life. We saved 17
dogs that day and not one went into one of our main foster homes. Rather
people stepped up, out of their comfort zones and said, "I want to help
save a life" and that day was a proud day because we changed the lives
of 17 dogs. And today, Simon and 16 others from that day, have a new
home thanks to the kindness of 17 families or individuals who took them
in.
