Satchel...

Dear Zara's
List,
We are so happy
with our new family member, Satchel (formerly Jase). He is so affectionate
and loving (lots of kisses and tail wags). He is adorable, mellow; easy to
train (he appears to be potty trained/house broken as of Saturday). He loves
going in and out of the doggy door, and he loves the bushes to romp in, and
the dirt areas for going to the bathroom. He loves to lie in the grass under
the trees, so he doesn’t use it for his bathroom (while we are sitting
outside with him). He is so good with guests, he doesn’t beg or jump on
them, but he loves the affection and attention they give him. While we are
eating, he eats his dinner, which is in the dining room where we eat. He
never growls when you take things out of his mouth, even a dog bone. He
doesn’t jump on people; he doesn’t even get up from the tiles when the
doorbell rings. He’s not afraid of the mower or the vacuum. He doesn’t even
try to dart out the doors, and appears fully comfortable with us and his new
home. He rarely barks, mostly at his reflection on the fireplace glass
doors. We take him to O’Neil Park at about 730 A.M. (about 4 times so far)
The trail is very shady. We're enrolled in puppy school, and our first class
was on Saturday. He loves the socialization piece. He and the other 2
terriers in the class had a great time together (at the socialization
period). Whoever had him originally, taught him to sit. When you have a
treat for him, he sits automatically, almost like he’s in the military. We
did not teach him this. Also, he is extremely mellow, compared to our
previous 2 terriers we’ve had over the past 25 years.
We took Satchel
to our vet, Dr. Kelp, on Friday. He is very healthy. Dr. Kelp guessed he was
about 4 l/2 months old and would probably gain another 15 to 20 pounds. He
weighed 23 l/3 lbs. at his free check-up (because he was a rescue dog). Our
daughter, Katy, is home for the next 2 months, and the three of us came to
an agreement on his name, Satchel. We all love him very much. The feelings
are mutual, based on Satchel’s smile, kisses, and tale wags.
Thank you for
trusting us. You have very good instincts, and we are so grateful to you and
so many others who are dedicated to rescuing these wonderful animals. We
have attached pictures. He is so adorable, and that’s not being
bias-everyone who sees him thinks he’s adorable and so cute. Please keep in
touch.
Fondly,
Bill, Deb, and
Katy Wright |
