Pistachio...

We received a frantic phone call about two cats that needed new homes immediately as the owners were being displaced from their home and they couldn't face the possibility that their cats would have to go to the shelter. So we agreed to take the cats.
Pistachio was a 2 year old Chocolate Point Siamese who had never been around dogs and wasn't too crazy about a house with unfamiliar cats. But he was soon going to learn that sometimes you learn to like those things that you never thought you would!
He came into our home and quickly escaped the crate that he had been transported in. Several hours later after he had not been seen it became obvious that he had escaped out a door b/c how could a cat hide that well? Little did we know. Despite all of our efforts we searched high and low and posted signs but Pistachio was not to be found. About 2 weeks after that fateful night a loud purr and a set of paws across my face woke me up at 2am. It was Pistachio. He had not escaped but rather had been hibernating. He finally decided to appear and make himself known and quickly became a favorite with the family.
He developed a cold and hung out at our house for an extra few weeks and by that time he was part of the family. All the while I knew I would someday have to find his permanent home. About two months after he had reappeared it was decided with many tears that he needed to go to adoptions. So, he made his way and I was absolutely sure I would never find the right home for Pistachio. Less than 15 minutes after putting him in his cage Sheryl appeared and inquired about him. After much discussion and it became obvious that she had all the right answers and was willing to let him hide for two weeks if he wanted to, I knew I would be saying goodbye that day.
It's been a year and Pistachio is so loved. He found his permanent lifetime home and is loved as I always envisioned he would be but wasn't sure I could ever find that home...He reigns King in the home and that's how we thought it should be. He'll always be missed and with every new picture there are renewed tears but they're happy ones now...We're so glad he found the Coenen's.
