Sometimes It takes a Village...
He came to us weighing less than a pound. Imagine if you can being able
to hold this dog in one palm and he feels like a small sack of bones.
Through three weeks of force feeding and bringing him back to life, his
foster mom, Teresa saw what she never thought she'd see...He stood up.
In another week or so, he walked on his own. After that he was on a roll
and he hasn't stopped. It was about 4-5 months of rehab for this little
guy. He's full weight at about 7lbs. With the help of another foster
Cindy and Nikita, he was read to go to his new home, when we got the
email from another foster Victoria. Telling us that he was the perfect
dog for her parents and they were on their way out from Missouri. When
they returned to Missouri, he was with them and apparently Napoleon
likes MO. Good work Zara's List and now his new wonderful family!
Hi Tera,
I
wanted to send you some pictures of Napoleon and his trip home to
Missouri. He is truly a success story. He went from being a
dog you were not sure was going to survive to being so very happy in his
new home. He truly believes is the king of the castle. This little dog
that had no personality and never made a sound has so changed since
finding his forever home with my parents. He barks at
everything. He steals socks and cat toys and hides
them in my mom’s shoes. She never knows what she will find in her
shoes. Napoleon loves to run in the yard and bark at the neighbors’ big
dog. As you remember one of the big issues with Napoleon was food and
how difficult it was to get him to eat. Well not anymore. He eats all
day long and will even take food from the other dogs. He has finally
convinced my mom’s cat Rebel to play with him. He is very loved and
happy! Thank-you for giving him a shot at life when it seemed he would
not live. Most of all thank-you for giving my parents the opportunity
to adopt him. He has made their lives fuller because he is constantly
entertaining them. Napoleon story is what rescue is all about.
