Kona (AKA) Maui

Tera,

What a wonderful pooch we picked up from you yesterday!

We've changed her name from Maui to Kona, keeping with the Hawaiian theme. We thought Kona worked better since she's the color of lava or a rich cup of Kona coffee. Maybe it's the "K" sound, but she's already responding to her new name.

We had a great trip home, no travel problems. She had a great first night in her crate, a few whimpers, but completely quieting down once the lights went out. We kept the crate in our bedroom and she was quiet all night until the alarm went off.

She played an unexpected "trick" on Chris....he had her outside this morning strolling around the yard. They went into the pool area where she sniffed around at the plants and the general area...then she jumped in the pool...a true water dog!

She's got a place in our home and our hearts....thank you for a great dog!!

Hello Tera,

Just thought we'd give you an update on Kona (formerly Maui).

She has been having a daily play date with our neighbor labradoodle Sugar. They have become best friends and run each other wild. She's really pooped when she gets back from "Sugar time".

We took her for a puppy groom...she came back looking like an oversized Bichon Frise, all puffy,quite a funny look. Chris and Tom took the scissors to her and trimmed off some of the frou-frou look. She's back to her naturally beautiful state now.

She's had a bit of a urinary tract problem. We've had her to the vet and she is on antibiotics. Hopefully things will be straightened out soon.

She's been just great. We are so happy with her and the feeling seems to be mutual. She's a quick learner and has behaved wonderfully.

Once again....just to let you know....she's found a place in our hearts and in our home.

Tera,

It's been a while since we've reported on Kona (formerly Maui). She's been with us a bit over a year now.

Here's a recent photo....she's as sweet as she is cute. She is an absolute joy. She's very smart and quite well behaved. We kept her coat trimmed short over the summer but let it grow out a bit over the winter. A mid-sized Labradoodle lives next door. They have play dates a few times a week. They are great friends.

We continue to be thankful that she joined our family.
