Hi Victoria,
Everything is going good, just a bit tricky with the potty training. :o)
It took him a day to really adjust, but he’s getting more active each day.
We did take him to the vet the next day and found that he had tapeworms.
But the vet gave him a shot the same day to take care of it. Other than
that he’s a pretty happy and curious puppy. He’s eating all his meals,
drinks lots of water, but still confused on where to eliminate. But I’m
sure he’ll get it soon. We’ve got him on a schedule, but it’s still
unpredictable exactly when he’s going to go. At first he was good about
not peeing in the house and waited until we took him outside. But since
there are 3-4 days of the week that he’s by himself for 7-8 hours, I want
to paper train him so he’s not holding his pee the entire time. Do you
have any tricks or suggestions on this? I’m using Wee-Wee pads and even an
extra housebreaking spray, but it’s not 100% effective. I still have to
keep an eye on him. We went to potty training class at Petsmart and got
some good pointers there. We’ve already used a good amount of Stain & odor
remover to clean up his accidents.
He’s also a little chewer. We’ve got him plenty of chew toys and the vet
suggested freezing some washcloths for him to chew on. I tried using the
bitter apple product on things he shouldn’t chew on but I think he
actually likes the taste…he licks it! Luckily the product has a money back
guarantee…So when he starts chewing on something he shouldn’t, we’ll
startle him and offer him a toy to chew on.
In two weeks we’ll be going in for his next set of booster shots and we’ll
be starting Puppy training! I’m excited in starting that. He’s already got
‘sit’ down and ‘come’ sometimes. He is crate trained also. He has no
problem going in and out and us closing the door, which is a wonderful
thing!
I can’t think of any questions or concerns right now though…but you’ll be
the first to know.
Here are some pictures for you too.

His favorite toy is this squeaking monkey. The monkey
just underwent surgery to repair his torn arm. Kiro loves to play tug. |

He prefers to sleep in the floor sometimes since the
weathers been getting warmer. He’s usually lying in front of a fan.

Please let me know if you have an advice or suggestions
for things to come. My friends keep telling me this is only the beginning
and I’m thinking what could be worse than potty training.
Hope to hear from you soon!
