I knew exactly what I wanted.  I was becoming a regular at the pound.  I would peruse the isles looking for the right dog to be a part of my family.  I was strangely particular.  She had to be female, part poodle, cream/white color, about 15 lbs. and not too high strung,  It took about 2 months and a lot of searching.  I saw Ginger on Zaraslist.  She was a bit further away then I wanted to travel but the Pet Expo was that weekend.  I called and they said she would in fact be there.  I went in with blinders on.  I must have passed three hundred dogs on my way to their booth.  I saw her from across the room, in her cage.  I knew.  I smiled when I got close enough to look in her eyes.  I knew.  Before going home I brought her to a park to meet my other dog Charlie.  A 6 year old rescue border collie mix.  They hit it off immediately.  My two sons, 3 and 5 years old loved her too.  We all went home and it was as if she had always been here.  Slept the first night on her back all open up "frog-legged".  Her personality is exactly what I wanted to add to our happy home.   I foresee many, many happy years together.  I wish I could personally thank her previous owner for giving her up and also thank Zara's List for making the whole adoption process a great experience.
