Duncan (AKA) Wilber...

18 Dec 2006

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that Duncan, formally know as Wilbur, arrived home safe and sound on Saturday. He explored the house, and then started playing with his toys (all 12 of them!). He is eating well and learning very quickly to go to the bathroom on newspaper. We love him very much, and will send pictures in the near future.

Could you also pass this along to his foster mom?

Thanks!

Duncan is fantastic. Everyone loves him and he loves everyone back we can t walk him more than 10 feet without strangers coming up and asking to pet him. People cross the street and come out of buildings to greet him! Sometimes it gets a little difficult to take him out for a walk.
He also enjoys his daily run around at the dog park right next to our house, and has made several friends there.
We can see his beagle traits pretty clearly now, as he howls along if Brian sings with him. We ve noticed his voice changing recently when he howls it is deeper now.
When we first brought him home at 2 months, he slept on top of my head like a hat. He doesn t do this so much anymore; he prefers sleeping between the pillows on his back like a person, but occasionally he ll flop himself on top of my head despite the fact that he is roughly 3 times the size he was when we got him. I don t mind, though.
He learned to sit and stay quickly and also knows how to give high-fives (completely useless trick, but fun all the same). His favorite toy is a rubber troll creature which he likes to set on the floor and then dance around growling, pawing and poking at it with his nose. He has so many toys now that we had to get him a crate toy box, although he doesn t understand the concept of putting the toys away.

Every now and then, he ll hop in the crate and sit in his mound of toys growling and making little noises as he plays I ve tried to catch this on video several times, but when he sees me he stops and won t start playing again until I m not looking any more. It s as if he s embarrassed to be caught making up games and playing by himself.
I could go on and on about how cute and goofy he is he s absolutely darling, and we really thank you for taking care of him and his brothers and sisters.
