Calli...

Calli is doing great. She has adjusted to her new surroundings and is being less of a grump every day. I keep a good routine and am very consistent and loving with her which is making all the difference in the world. As you can see by the pictures, I was able to trim the hair around her eyes and face without incident so she truly is getting used to me and learning to trust me. She is so full of energy and I've lost 4 pounds since she's been here! We go for three or four walks a day and she just loves it. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how quickly she is relaxing based on the stories of her past. I think we were just meant to be and she is going to be very happy here, as I am already. I'm so glad I found you guys. I honestly don't feel I'm doing anything special, just loving that little girl.

Even my cat has started playing again. I think he missed having a younger housemate and he certainly let Calli know who was there first. It was good for Calli to be put in her place and now they respect each other and are truly starting to play together. Saber runs through the house and Calli chases him, then he jumps behind the couch and teases her. He even grabbed her toy this morning and was playing tug-of-war with her. Sometimes life just works out right! Keep up the good work & good luck w/ all of your other babies!

She was labeled "unadoptable" at the shelter and she certainly wasn't for the weak of heart by any means. She's either had a tough past or she was never socialized well with people. She likes dogs but it was the 2 legged folks she had a problem with and we knew we were taking a risk. We could have had her for years to come but we wanted to try. The shelter just shook their head at us and asked why we didn't take some of the others that were more adoptable. We just smiled and said, "Because no one else will want her and we want to try..."

Happy had a moment of hope with a home and within 24 hours they were demanding to bring her back and demanding we euthanize her. Sure glad we didn't listen.

So then we received an email from Terry. We explained her behavioral issues and did our best to make sure she was prepared for Happy who soon became Calli. Terry came and met Calli and well, it was the first time we ever saw her climb onto someone's lap the minute she met her. It was fairly obvious that Terry was smitten and that Calli had a new home and so the journey began....

We're a rescue that believes in giving a dog a chance outside of the shelter. And we believe that because of folks like Terry....
