Buddy...

Sorry for the long delay in getting back to you. It is
just a fluke that I even got your email. For some reason, it went into my
spam box. Usually, I empty it without even looking. Anyway, we changed
Monty's name to Buddy since we found ourselves naturally calling him that as
a nickname & he's definitely Willy's buddy.
The dogs get along GREAT! You would think they grew up
together. We couldn't imagine they would get along this good. They share
food, toys, & beds. They sleep together and everything. They even share
bringing back their toys when we play fetch (which Buddy loves, sometime
carrying the toy back together at the same time. He has been putting on
weight quickly. We now have to give Willy a head start eating since Buddy
has started to inhale his food in a few bites.

Yes, at times they can be a handful and we have notice
a bit more rebellious & independent behavior from Willy at times. Buddy has
no leash manners which I have learned when trying to take both for a walk at
the same time. 2 dogs see one squirrel = one walker down. He is a very smart
dog and a fast learner. He is house trained and only had 2 close calls with
plant the first day since he like to mark everything. After that, no
problems whatsoever. I wonder if he had a bit of training at sometime as I
am amazed how quickly (after only a few tries) he has learned to sit and lay
down (even with just hand signals). We need to work on the "come" command.
When he gets out he just looks at you and keeps on going.
I can see how he came to be a stray. He is very
mischievous when we are not around and they team up together. Double trouble
is another nickname. If they cannot find something to tear apart into tiny
shreds, then they are trying to get out. Fortunately, they stick together
and Willy is very familiar with the neighborhood and sticks to the house. We
also have a great neighbor who puts them back. Re-dog proofing is a
continuous task and a new fence is in the works.

Buddy is a terrific dog. He has a very sweet
disposition, gives gentle kisses, likes to cuddle and wants lots of love. He
has been a wonderful addition to our family. As our vet said, "He's a
keeper". We are so happy to have him in our lives.
Have a wonderful day!
