I came on board with Zara's List while trying to adopt out a difficult to place, but loveable Cockapoo named Homer (see "Success Stories"). After contacting several agencies, Zara's List was the only rescue willing to help me. After several months via Petfinder.com we were able to place Homer with a new family in Texas where he has been living happily ever after.
After having this experience with Zara's List, I wanted to volunteer with this rescue group. I asked if we had flyers seeking foster homes and donations and there were not any. So, after some cutting and pasting (yes I need to update my computer skills!), I popped out a couple of flyers. Then I decided I wanted to continue fostering. But Zara's List was at a turning point and wanted to find new places to adopt. For many reasons, I felt compelled to help with this search. A few months later, and 3 adoption sites to boot, we had our new places.
It's hard to say exactly what I do since most volunteers don't do just one thing, but wear many hats. Marketing, fostering, perhaps. But really, just whatever is needed.
