Zaras List

I have been volunteering for Zara's List for about two years now. My friend told me about it and I love animals, so I wanted to check it out. Ever since then I have been volunteering. I used to be the puppy girl because I would always be in the puppy cages. People always asked me if I was for adoption to, but no I wasn't. So now my jobs include cleaning cat cages, walking dogs, cleaning up messes, and asking people if they have any questions and help them with a dog. I'm so glad that I found this rescue because I love what I do. When I tell people that I volunteer in a animal rescue and tell them what my jobs are, they are like ewww.. you enjoy doing that, why don't you spend your weekends hanging out with your friends? I do hang out with my friends, just not on weekends. My priority on the weekends is to help people find a companion for their family, and open up a space to save another animal's life.

I am 14 years old. I am adopted. I have two brothers, and one sister, that were also adopted as well. I have 6 cats, 1 dog, a guinea pig, and 2 turtles. My cats names are Minx, Callie, Princess, Tinkerbell, Cleo, and Socks. Socks is my cat. Ever since she was a kitten she has sucked on my ear, and been by my side. We got Socks from Wal-Mart. People were giving baby kittens away and we decided to take one for our neighbor. It turned out that our neighbor couldn't have a cat, so we kept her. Socks is about 5 years old now. Cleo is 4 years old. We got Cleo from my Aunt Shani's neighbor. They were moving and didn't want to take Cleo with them so we said that we would take her and she has been with us ever since. Tinkerbell is about 1 years old. My neighbor up the street had a litter of kittens, and Tinki was one of them, so we took her in. Princess is about 6 months old. My dad brought two baby kittens home and we were going to adopt them out, but my mom fell in love with Princess, so now she's living with us. Princess is the boss of the house. She is in everyone's business and very spoiled. She is my mom's cat because you can tell --- she follows her every where and, when my mom leaves, she waits at the door crying. Callie is 4 years old. My neighbor brought a kitten home and her Aunt wouldn't let her keep it so I asked if we could keep the kitten for a night, and just lets say we kept her longer than a night. Callie sleeps with me every night. Lastly is my cat Minx. Minx is 3 years old. Minx is my dad's cat. My dog's name is Maggie. Maggie is a Springer spaniel and she is 4 years old. We've had her since she was a puppy.

So that's my story and all of my animals. I just want to say Thank you to Zara's List for letting me be a part of what you do. I love being able to help animals find permanent homes and being able to save another animal's life, it makes me feel good inside about what I do.
