Thurston is the best. He is smart, playful, loving, and well mannered (okay, most of the time - for a dog he's great), and over the weeks he has become very comfortable in our home. He is an extremely social dog that enjoys spending time with the family and being a part of our activities (as advertised). He enjoys taking walks around our neighborhood and we often receive compliments about our "adorable, well behaved" dog. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have adopted Thurston into our family as he has provided us with great enjoyment and more to come. I have attached a recent picture of our little man.

Some of the training/behavioral opportunities that we're currently trying to correct include (i) use of the dog door, and (ii) occasional accidents in the house. We are confident that in most cases the occasional accidents will resolve once we train him to use the dog door and as he continues to build confidence in venturing outside (in our back yard) without the fear of being left alone. We are working with him daily to build his confidence, and he is really doing great. We are planning to enroll him (and the whole family) in a dog training program, which is scheduled to start in the next few weeks. With a little more training and the ongoing love and attention that we shower him with, he will continue to grow into the name (Thurston) that he wears with great pride.

On a related note we would be interested in knowing if you observed Thurston successfully passing through a dog door without persistent coaching. We are wondering if he may have been more successful having other dogs model the behavior for him.
