Whoo Hoo !!! Let me tell you about my new home and family !!!
Soy Sauce ....
Soy Sauce was not a perfect dog. We often say we don't have any of those in Zara's List. He had his share of issues and for that reason many folks would not ever consider him. That's ok. Each of our dogs has a place and sometimes it takes some time to find that home but in Soy's case he found the perfect home. He found a home that was knowledgeable, experienced and willing to give him the space and time he needed to adjust. He found a home that didn't look at his issues as reasons to give up on him but saw them as challenges the family would overcome. Because of that philosophy and attitude he is alive and thriving. We are so grateful for his wonderful home but most of all Soy is grateful!

Hi Tera,
Remember me? I'm Noelle, the one who adopted Soy Sauce on March 1st. I know you said you enjoyed getting an update on him back in March, so I wanted to give you another one. :-)
We say here at our house that Soy has lots of issues, but he fits right in because we do, too!! LOL
Soy has come SO FAR since we brought him home. He is really beginning to thrive! He looks fantastic because I am brushing him and grooming him regularly. He has gone from peeing/pooping in the house multiple times per day to peeing infrequently and pooping almost never in the house anymore. He pees in the house when he is wanting attention and he doesn't feel like he's getting enough. As he becomes more and more secure as part of our family, the more it really helps.
He does still have some issues with biting, but not as much as a few months ago. Now he only bites for two reasons: he is being moved someplace he doesn't want to go (like off the couch) OR someone is trying to take something out of his mouth. We have learned that it is better to let Soy chew up the phone charger and get a new one as opposed to one of us needing stitches on our fingers. LOL My sister, who lives in San Francisco, told me I should get rid of him immediately (after hearing about his latest bite incident), and you know what I thought? I thought to myself, "There is no way I could throw away my little baby boy just because he has baggage!" I don't know what all happened to Soy before we got him, but I know that old scars can run very deep, just like with humans. Soy has reasons for his behavior, and he isn't trying to be a "bad" dog. He just has some bad habits.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed this LOOONG update! I hope you are doing well, too!

Hi Tera!
Happy Independence Day to you, one day late! I am the mommy of Soy Sauce, the little Pomeranian we adopted from you, remember? Well, I know you like updates, so I thought I'd give you one.
First of all, little SoySoy is doing so incredibly well! He is happy, healthy, handsome, and just a great little companion. I am happy to report that his ears are much better now. In addition to that, he is having seizures only once in a great while. we went about 6 weeks without one, and then he had one of July 3rd. Even so, it was a very mild seizure and he was minimally affected.
You know what makes Soy happier than anything else in the whole wide world? Riding in the car!! OMG, he is so funny! He practically skips to the car when I tell him he's going with me, and then he sits on the passenger seat next to me, just watching things go by. I swear, if dogs could smile, Soy's smile while in the car would be a mile wide!!
Here's two interesting things. One is that Soy is not afraid of fireworks! Isn't that funny? Most dogs are, from what I understand, but Soy came out on his leash last night with our neighbors while we were setting off fireworks, and he didn't act like there was anything different than usual going on. He didn't flinch or get scared or upset or anything!! And here's the best part, a group of neighbors, kids and grownups alike, gathered all around him just to pet him and admire him and give him love... and Soy Sauce was AWESOME!!!!!!! He was just as calm and sweet as could be, letting the kids pet him, etc. One of the adults said to another one, "Wow, he's so beautiful! Look at his coat and how fluffy he is!" So COOL!!
He did bite me a couple of weeks ago pretty hard, but it was my own fault because I tried to pick him up. I don't know what I was thinking, because I KNOW that freaks him out! Nevertheless... I had taken him to the school where I work to pick up a few things, and I didn't put him on his leash. When I was ready to leave, he didn't want to get in the car. I mean, really, with all those new smells and grasses and rooms he was just wanting to stay and check it out some more. I did, eventually, get him in the car by using a jumprope as a leash. Here's the funniest part: when I got home with my swollen finger my son goes, "Mom!!! You know you can't pick him up like that! You should know better!" (Wisdom from the mouth of a 12-year-old!)
I am thankful every single day that I have our little Soy. We love him so much, and every day, week, month that goes by he is just a joyful, sweet, loving, needy, wonderful boy!!
Warmly,
Noelle
