Our rescue was contacted by a shelter at an event and asked if we would be interested in taking in a dog that was turned in by owners for euthanasia. They opted to bring the dog to the event and see if we would take him as they knew we could find him a home if we had room. Because of the effort of this officer who gave him a chance instead of simply "doing her job" of having them sign a piece of paper and euthanizing him, we took him in and found him a home.

Chicken Little came out of a backyard breeder situation. He needed socialization and needed a family who would make a lifetime commitment to him. He found that in his new home. It's been almost 5 months and in that short time his new family has worked out the kinks. What this proves once again is that when folks make a commitment to a dog, they will work out the challenges and EVERY dog has challenges. Our rescue is often quoted as saying that "We have no perfect dogs. But our dogs often find perfect homes." This is one that proves that to us. Thank you for giving him the home he deserved.

Just an update, Jack is doing really well, is now able to hang out with our other dog and they get along fine! a big step! he is still aggressive (much less so!!) with people who walk up too close to us, but when we are just walking along he doesn't growl or bark at passersby of any kind...bikes, skateboards, etc, no problem!

He is really smart! Does SIT, DOWN, ROLL OVER, STAY, and loves to play ball and brings it back to us...and now jumps into the car happily rather than having us have to lift his big butt in and shove...LOL!

We LOVE HIM!

My daughter Kelly, who has a disability, well he seemed skittish around her for a longer period than he did with us, probably because her movements were less predictable, but is now happy to see her, licks her and sticks close when she is walking...he is really cute!

We got him some doggy valium so we can buzz his hair, he is matted and although he loves being brushed, some of the mats are just too deep to get out...can hardly wait to see how he looks! will try to send a picture.

Hello!

Jack is gonna be 1 tomorrow, at least according to what we know about his past!

He is doing really well...so sweet with us, his stranger anxiety continues to decrease, and he is the best car dog ever!

We had him shaved down to the skin to get rid of the matted hair, and although he looked pretty funny at first, we got used to it, and now his hair is coming back nicely.

Gonna send you a picture of him!

Just wanted to say hi and tell you that jack is doing great...my daughter has taught him SIT, STAY, DOWN, TURN AROUND, PLAY DEAD, SHAKE, HIT ME (high 5), UP (and he 'begs') and he LOVES to play ball (tennis balls are his fave, he has a stash) and fetch sticks, which he then carries for as long as possible...he is still a bit aggressive at times with other dogs and strangers, altho he tolerates (doesn't like it but...) most people who come into our house....he wears a haltie when we walk him and it seems to have helped some...my other daughter took a great photo of him in her photography class, her teacher LOVED it...jack is so smart and sweet with us...if we can only get him to adjust to other people and places he will be PERFECT...but for us, he is perfect just the way he is...not to mention being one of the cutest dogs ever!!!

Jack made a recent trauma a lot easier...our old black lab (14 yrs old) had to be put to sleep and my daughters and i were pretty devastated...jack definitely helped us all, and i am so glad we got him when we did!

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

happy thanksgiving and hope all your holidays are happy and merry!

Here's Jack about a month ago...he is so cute! We are so glad we have him, and he continues to improve... My daughter Mackenzie is a big fan of Cesar Millan and has read his books and watched his show.... She is using his techniques on Jack and they seem to be helping... He still gets aggressive at times, but its decreased a lot!

Happy New Year!

Whoo Hoo !!!  Let me tell you about my new home and family !!!
Jack aka Chicken Little

Another milestone! Jack went to petsmart to be groomed today and did wonderfully! he is buzzed pretty short again but still cute as can be...and he didn't try to eat anyone there! he really only acts aggressively when he is protecting us...once we hand him off to the groomer or vet he does fine...and last time he was groomed (at the vet, we were too scared to take him to anyone else) he had to be knocked out, so today was a major success!

We are soo soo happy we met you and found him...he is the sweetest guy ever!
