Heidi is the best alternative to a gym and she's getting me into shape with all the long walks and jogs. Thanks to her, I've made many new friends around the neighborhood and at the local dog parks. Everyone wants to know what she is. So far my best guess is a bloodhound, treeing walker coonhound mix, and I think the neighborhood squirrels would agree! She is quite the little hunter whose surprisingly deep bay draws laughter every time.
I'm two weeks into doggie training and am learning great techniques to gain her trust and obedience. Ever the hound, she has her own opinion of how things should be, but I'm learning how to work with it. Each day she walks a little closer by my side and her recall is improving with the help of some tasty treats! Thank you again for looking after sweet Heidi. I am so lucky to be her forever home!

Hello!
I can't believe it's been over 7 months since I adopted Heidi. She has certainly had some adventures since the last update. Most recently on a morning trail walk, she climbed a tree while chasing a cat, slipped and cut her inner thigh open on a branch, requiring surgery to repair the torn muscle wall. Here's a picture of the pathetic "conehound" a few days after the ordeal. Three weeks later, her stitches are out and she's her happy, playful self again.
I've been working on Heidi's off leash skills and am now able to enjoy many new trails and beaches with her and her doggie pals. A pocketful of duck jerky and a commanding voice was all I needed!
Thanks again for the great work your organization is doing!

Greetings!
It has now been over a year and a half since I adopted Heidi and I couldn't ask for a better dog. Heidi has grown into a very sweet, well-mannered adult. She has even been named the official "HR dog" at my work and she takes her job very seriously, greeting visitors and co-workers, charming them with caring and calm demeanor. We recently hired a woman who was fearful of dogs and just the other day she came to me and said, "I'm ready to pet her now". Since then, she brings a treat for Heidi each day.
I have just moved into a new home (with a yard!), and as soon as I am settled, I would like to be a foster home for the local rescue group. I have been inspired by the work of the Zara's List team and I hope to one day give someone the love and joy Heidi has brought to me. I cannot imagine what my life would be like if you hadn't saved Heidi from the
blue room.
With Love,
Angela

Spring Greetings to the Zara’s List Team!
Just wanted to send a quick hello and a new picture of Heidi of course. We had a Bonnet contest at work and Heidi just had to join the Easter Parade! She continues to amaze me each and every day, with her gentle love and enthusiasm for life and all things athletic! Once again, thank you for the work you do to save these wonderful animals who so deserve a second chance.
Warmest Regards,
Angela
