Thats right not four, not five, but six!! So much for the xrays to tell us what to expect. The last one was a bit of a surprise, we were packing up to go to Barts and here comes puppy number six, the biggest puppy of all. They are beautiful. Four Girls and Two Boys.

Tululah is being fostered in a family that has allowed the teenage daughter to be responsible for caring for the puppies. Obviously Mom and Dad supervise closely but so far our Brittney is doing a fabulous job. She checks the weight of her pups visually every day, checks their weight by scale weekly, is required to write a daily journal on them and cleans up after Mom and pups every day. Brittney has proven herself to be responsible and loving for this litter and with a watchful Mom and Dad Tululah and her Fruit Basket are thriving under Brittney's watch.

3/1/07 (Day 2)
Getting to name the puppies is so cool. I love it! Talula means the Goddess of Fruit. So my mom, my little sister and I thought we should name the puppies after fruit. So, introducing the 1st puppy who’s name is Apple. I think it fits her because she is so small and cute. Then we have Papya the 2nd puppy. After her we have her brother Banana! My mom picked which puppy got the name Papya or Kiwi. Well she picked the 2 puppies that look alike puppy #2 & 4. Puppy #4 is now called Kiwi! Then we have Black Cherry. Puppy #5. My little sister liked that name and puppy so there you go. Last but not least we have my favorite Coconut! The big boy! As of today these are the puppies weight.
Apple 4.6 oz.
Papya 5.6 oz.
Banna 4.4 oz.
Kiwi 5.6 oz.
Black Cherry 4.4 oz.
Coconut 6.5 oz.

The puppies are looking great. They’re moving around so much now its crazy. Sometimes they’ll go all the way under the blanket and I only count 4 or 5 when I come home. It freaks me out so then I go rushing through the blanket to find them. Anyway I weighed the puppies and they are all gaining weight. It makes me happy knowing that they’re eating.
Apple 8.5 oz
Papya 9.6 oz
Banna 8.7 oz
Kiwi 10.6 oz
Black Cherry 8.4 oz
Coconut 11.2 oz

It’s the puppies 2nd week and I’m so happy the last few days there’s been a lot happening. On 3/12/07 all the puppies’ ears opened. Then on 3/13/07 Coconut and Kiwi started to open their eyes. Today Coconut, Kiwi, Papaya and Banana all have their eyes open. Black Cherry and Apple only have 1 eye open. They are getting so big and I can’t wait for them to start walking!

It’s been 3 weeks since the puppies were born. I have been having so much fun watching them grow bigger and bigger every day. Yesterday I saw a few puppies trying to walk and it was so cute because they would stand up and run really quick and then fall. Today they were all doing it. Some were doing it better than others. It’s almost time to move them out of the playpen and into the x-pen. And hopefully by next week I will be able to feed them soft food.

On the 27th I set up the x-pen for the puppies. I put them in it right before I went to bed. But I couldn’t go to sleep because they cried too much so I put them back into the playpen for the night. Today I put them back in so they could get use to it. Only once I think they pooped on the blanket, but they learned really quickly to go on the newspaper. I also fed them some soft dog food. And for the next few days I will do that once a day. I still let Talula in to see the puppies and nurse because she can’t jump into the x-pen by her self. But she watches them from my bed. As they get more independent Talula will be able to become more of a pet than a momma.
