Rice Krispies
Jan. 10, 2008
Three pups were being turned into the shelter after Mom was hit by a car. They were in horrid conditions, obviously had been left in their own waste for quite some time. The smell alone was enough to bring even the most seasoned of rescuer's to her knees.
The pups are probably 3 weeks old. One male is a hefty 1.2lbs. and the others are at a mighty 10oz. They are the size of kittens who are approximately the same age. The female, the black pup, was fighting death from the moment we took her in. Without some lifesaving intervention at our vet's office, she wouldn't be here. She's not completely out of the woods yet but she has a fighting chance now and at least she appears to want to live. She went from a lifeless, non-moving little bundle to now moving around, talking to her foster mom and wanting to eat. Miracles do happen my friends when folks step in to help those who can not fight for themselves.
Look for Rice Krispies to appear on the Pet List hopefully in early February.

Rice Krispies: Snap, Crackle and Pop
Jan. 13, 2008
Rice Krispies have joined forces with Jamba and the Juices for the "Breakfast of Champions!" The 3 orphaned pups have been taken in by Jamba and her crew and you'd never know they are different species. Heck they don't even know it!
Hey, did you hear? There are some kittens around here. Be very, very careful...
Raising six kids is nothing next to trying to get them all to look at the camera at the same time.
I'll smile. Who cares what anyone else is doing. Look at me!

We are now accepting applications. Please make sure that you have read their biography thoroughly on the Pet List page (click on their pictures on that page) and if they are a match for you and your family, then please fill out an application.
The Rice Krispies came into our rescue as 3 week old puppies. They were abandoned at the shelter after their mom was hit by a car and no one in the family to care for them. They had obviously been in deplorable conditions as their fur was covered in feces and they stuck for days even after multiple baths. After a long fought battle our rescue said goodbye to Snap the sister who faired the worst of all the Krispies by the neglect suffered early on. But in her honor we have Crackle and Pop who are waiting for their forever home.
Pop is poppin' with personality. He's the little man on the go constantly. He'll run and have a pit stop in your lap but then it's go, go, go from there. He's the adventurer and will jet out to greet the world head on.
Crackle is the more studious one and the observer. He takes all the scenery in and he's the first to climb on your lap and you can guarantee he isn't moving until you make him. He doesn't need to be center of attention. He's content to just hang out and be part of the background. He's a love bug who will soak up the attention but won't demand it.
Both were raised with a litter of kittens and they have no idea they are actually dogs. They love to hang out with their feline friends. They're not intimidated by the canines in the house though either. They also have been raised with kids and we will consider children with this litter who have experience with small dogs. No toddlers please.
As of Feb. 5, this litter is 6 weeks old and 2lbs. We expect they will be under 10 lbs when full grown.
