Margarita and the Cocktails (Born on the 4th of July!)

It was a great way to end the Fourth of July. After dinner and before fireworks we went to check on Margarita who showed signs in the morning that she was ready to give birth. All day and nothing, but apparently as soon as we left, she began whelping the first of her 7 babies. Only 1 1/2 hours had passed since we left her and we returned to three puppies. While we were setting up some music to cut down on the sound of fireworks another little bundle arrived, but only once we turned our backs. After seeing the fireworks display, we returned to find two more pups, bringing the count to 6! Sometime after we finished admiring the pups and left mom to care for her family, the 7th arrived. What a funny girl, she wanted to do everything on her own and she did an awesome job. It was strange for us as we have always been right there helping the moms bring their babies into this world. But Margarita is obviously one independent little soul. All 7 pups are healthy and absolutely beutiful. We are happy to introduce the Cocktails.....

Seabreeze - Girl - 7.2 oz.
Martini - Girl - 5.9 oz.
Daiquiri - Girl - 8.0 oz.
Mudslide - Girl - 6.3 oz.
Cosmopolitan - Boy - 6.4 oz.
Pina Colada - Boy - 6.8 oz.
Mojito - Boy - 6.8 oz.

The pups are 2 1/2 weeks old and have grown so much. We were gone for one week, but had someone stay with the babies and the rest of our four legged gang. We knew everyone was well taken care of but missed them all so much. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw how much they had grown. Their eyes are open, they have taken their first steps and found their barks. They are just the cutest puppies with Moms great personality shining through.

3 1/2 weeks old and have tried their first taste of real puppy food. They all just dug right in and enjoyed their first meal. They are growing well and starting to display their own individual personalities. It is so cute to hear them bark and watch them play, but most of all to have them cuddle with us. They are starting to use the potty pads and brave going to moms food bowl for a little taste. Mom will have none of that, after all she is still nursing 7 babies! Margarita is doing such a great job raising these babies, she definately deserves a long rest after this. She's thinking Hawaii or the Bahamas!
