Lucy and Ethel
8 Jan 2007

"Hey, are you coming to the shelter tonight?" One of our favorite volunteers was on the other line and she had a suspicious tone in her voice. When it was confirmed we were on our way she explained she needed our help.

Yikes. What had she gotten us into?

A couple had stood in line with 2 tiny puppies. As the volunteer approached them asking if they were turning in the puppies, the owners explained that the Mom had run away the day before and they didn't want to care for the pups. The volunteer asked if they wanted to look through the kennels for Mom and the owners declined. They explained that there were originally 7 pups, didn't really know what happened to the others and well, they weren't really interested in keeping these pups.

There are days that crush your spirit at the shelter. But thank heavens for the volunteers who give of their time and for one of our favorites that ultimately saved these two!

Lucy and Ethel are 6-7 weeks old and very small, under 2lbs. They will be under 10lbs when full grown. They are looking for their forever home. Due to their size we are looking for a home that doesn't have small children but rather has older children that are accustomed to small dogs or a home with adults. They are well socialized with other dogs and cats.
