Bridgette:

She was turned into the shelter when her family no longer had time for her. Our rescue took her on her last day. She came in with a bout of kennel cough and as soon as she was ready to be spayed we took her in only to be surprised to hear she wouldn't be spayed yet but rather we'd be welcoming 8 little ones in the very near future. It appears our little Bridgette wasn't getting round like we assumed from eating but rather from what was growing inside of her.

Daddy is unknown because it was before her turn in the shelter, so like most of our Moms we'll all anxiously await our little arrivals and have fun deciding who Dad was.

Update: Mar. 13, 2007

Here's one week update:
Bridgette has turned out to be the best mom. Her foster family has to force her to go outside to leave the pups even for a few minutes and as quickly as she goes outside, she's rushing back inside to check and make sure all 7 of her little ones are ok. She's a mom through and through and that makes life so much easier for the foster mom. What a relief. Since the last litter to come through the household was 12 little ones that ended up having to be bottle fed. Life is much easier when Momma Bridgette does the job herself!

In the next few weeks, the foster family will have the privilege of watching these little 7 wonders develop into puppies with their own distinct personalities. Keep watching to watch these little wonders grow up in our rescue...

Week Three update:

Here is an update on Bridgette’s Midgets. They are really getting cute. Tiny Tim is still holding his own. (Tiny Tim weighs a whopping 1.3lbs. while the rest of his siblings weigh in at 3-4lbs.) He is even starting to play with the others. Due to Tiny Tim's size, we are now supplementing him 2x's a day with the bottle. He still nurses from Mom but we are fighting to put weight on him and keep him alive. He still fights the bottle feeding but he's doing better at nursing.

Oliver is showing his personality big time. He walks like a Basset and walks around barking at?..oh who knows! I included a pictures of him doing his walk.

Omar is my observer. He thinks about playing but checks out his surroundings first. He even growled at the camera just to let it know he was in charge.

Jacque is my little old man. He looks like one and just moves slowly.

Patrick has the longest legs in the bunch but that is not saying much in this group because well, you know, Mom is short and squatty!

Albert is one of the first to come to the kids when they sit down to play with the pups.

Sophie, the only girl, seems to take care of Tiny Tim. She is often seen curled up with him. She's the mother hen and caretaker type. She is a sweetheart but a little shy.

Bridgette continues to be a good mom but is happy to spend more time away from her pups. She loves to be with her foster brother Sarge and sister Heather. She loves to go on walks and her favorite thing of all is to find a spot next to anyone sitting on the couch and get a tummy rub.

4 week update

Here are the pups at four weeks. They are getting big. I have includes their weight with their names. They bark and growl at each other and are much more playful. They seem to be very healthy pups. Outside of our sad loss of Tim, this week things are going great and are only a few short weeks away from weaning.
