Abie. It means "Mom of Many" and boy, does it ever in this case! We received a call about a mom and a "some" pups who needed a foster home. Of course the staff forgot to mention, there were 12 pups!!!!
So we have Abie and her 12 pups in a fabulous foster home where they will be cared for, loved and doted on until they are ready to move to their permanent homes. They will be well socialized with dogs, cats and kids. Pups were about a week old when they came into our rescue and will be ready for their new homes in mid September. Keep watching so you can see them as they "grow" up in their foster home. Abie is a 30-40lb black Lab mix who is about 3 years old.
Feeding time!
Two weeks into their short life, Abie became unable to feed her 12 puppies. So our rescue took over bottle feeding duties and they're all still alive but better yet, they are thriving! Our little pups are getting huge and just starting to learn to eat on their own. It was a few weeks of not sleeping for one family in particular but with some help from others in the rescue and some new faces, these little ones are going to grow and be healthy little pups!
8/14/06:
Abie's little bundles of joys continue to thrive and are now moving to eating more on their own. Some still prefer the bottles! Puppies are 4 weeks old and in 4 short weeks will be looking for homes of their own.
