The tumor came off but the news wasn't good. It was cancerous. But then the blow. Keeper's chest was full of dark splotches....the cancer had already spread and there wasn't anything left to do but kiss him and say goodbye.

Because sometimes you don't understand life and all that it has to offer. Our family was already facing the painful task of slowly saying goodbye to our family pet who was dying of cancer. It was and is the hardest thing we've faced in a long time and now, to be faced with it so suddenly with a foster dog. How could it be? Why? We had no answers that day and we certainly weren't ready to say goodbye to this beauty who had just graced us. We thought we'd get the chance to know him. We didn't. Within days it was apparent we didn't have a choice and we stood by him and kissed him goodbye telling him that we'd see him again. We gave him plenty of kisses to share with the ones who had gone before him and we held him as he closed his eyes....
