The call from the shelter was this friendly, outgoing 3 year old Terrier mix was going to be euthanized and could we take the dog. We had an opening and we did. Turned out that Count was 9 years old which didn't matter to us but he clearly had some issues going on. We were hoping what appeared to be shaking was related to nerves or something correctable. We initially thought he might be epileptic or at least a controllable issue. It turned out to be a cancer that had spread in his brain. In the end we lost our battle for Count.

No one could ever tell you the pain of loving a dog and then having to make the most painful decision to let go. You can't quantify it and it shouldn't be...There is a haunting in your soul that never goes away. You wonder if only he had been treated a year ago...

In his last days he was loved. Whatever his life before held, at the end he was loved and for some that is the best we can do...
