Chardonnay

The voice on the other end said, "Can you come out to the shelter today?
We have one who's in pretty bad shape." Boy, he wasn't kidding.

Chardonnay was turned into the shelter to be euthanized. She'd sustained an injury 10 days before she arrived at the shelter and the family just wanted her "put out" because she looked so gross. That's what happens when an animal is neglected. She weighed a pound and a half and she had what appeared to be a big black patch on her chest. What it turned out to be was either a bite wound that got so infected it and the skin turned necrotic or it was a snake bite and Chardonnay was dying a painful death. Either way she had little chance to live.

She had 2 surgeries and an assortment of skin graphs to try to repair the wound areas. Each time our Dr. Strathman gave us little chance of her surviving but each time she rallied against the odds. These are her latest pictures. She is a gem who deserves the million dollar home b/c she fought so hard to live.
