Trillie
"She's a wonderful dog. She's so cute and everyone loves her. But..."

Of course there is always a "but" in there. I waited patiently as the shelter explained why this dog wouldn't get adopted and why I should take her.

"She has a bad leg and it needs to be removed."

So now Trillie is a part of our rescue. She's a long haired Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix. She's about 10lbs soaking wet. She has a wonderful temperament and she runs like the wind even with only 3 legs. We're grateful to have a wonderful vet that can help us with dogs like this and it's because of the often generous support of so many folks that we are able to afford her care.

3/22/07 (5 days after surgery)
Well, Lil Miss Trillie took to Gunny right away. She's super sweet and doesn't have a mean bone in her 3 legged body. She loves to give kisses, riding in the car, sitting in your lap while at the computer, and just being a social butterfly with everyone. She walks on her 3 legs like she never had 4. She does really good in her crate and doesn't potty in it at all. I would let her out of her crate with me in the office only so I could keep a watchful eye on her. But, when I'd take her out to potty she would just be super happy and trot off to the door and do her business outside. I put a shirt on her which has helped tremendously keeping her from licking and scratching her wound.

She ignores Shadow and just wants to be friends with everyone else. She still has quite a lot of bruising and tenderness on her chest from her surgery. Other than that her incision looks very good. No redness or discoloration, it looks like it's going to heal up nicely. I think she'll do well with Gunny & Daisy watching over her. Any dog is lucky to have them as foster parents. They're so wonderful with all their fosters. I was told the leg was paralyzed but I don't know how or for how long. Or, if she came to the shelter that way? Here's her first set of pictures.
