Tia is an 8-9 year old Pomeranian. Her owners dropped her off at the shelter and she was this happy, go-lucky, bundle of energy and fun. This dog with a fabulous personality and temperament shouldn’t have ever landed in the shelter but it happens. Tia figured she could brave the shelter and she’d soon find a new home. What she didn’t expect was to find herself in a cage with a dog who would tear her to pieces. The morning following her intake the shelter attendant found her lying in a pool of blood. She had bite wounds, injuries covering most of her body. This beautiful, lively, vivacious dog was suddenly life-less. We received the call as we had expressed interest in her and the shelter told us they didn’t have the ability to care for her properly. We took her on and she was soon sewn back together and put in a foster home that would attend to her.

We need your help because our little Tia will need continued care and vet attention. The sparkle in her eye seems to be reappearing but it’s been a long process to get her back to where she was when she first came into the shelter.

Update January 23, 2007:

Tia's wounds are healing physically and emotionally. Our vet is now recommending surgery to remove the third eye lid (cherry eye) and give her a dental for all the gum disease that she has and he believes once that is taken care of, she'll recover more quickly. So we're looking at one more surgery for our little girl!
