He'd have to be SuperMan to survive what he has been through and to still be alive. We found him lying on the ground at the shelter. We were sure we wouldn't find a heart beat but thank heavens he was still alive. He'd been adopted and returned because of kennel cough. Unfortunately the worst thing to do to a dog who has kennel cough is to turn him into a high stress situation, where he more than likely won't be medicated and where he's less inclined to eat which will stave off the kennel cough. But it's times like this that a rescue is most needed and we were thrilled to grab him up and make him part of the Zara's List family.

For the first 10 days we fed him by a syringe, gave him fluids by IV and hovered over him constantly. By the 11th day he vaguely responded to the cooked chicken but when fed out of our hand, he ate it. For several more days we sat with him and fed him by hand until he was strong enough and had enough desire to want to eat on his own. Now, despite his skeletal look, he is on his way to recovery. It will take time to put weight on him but now he's actually running around the yard, wants to play for a few minutes with his canine friends and can even jump up on the couch to get love and attention. He is a lover boy who will be up for adoption hopefully at the beginning of September.
