Stilts
We were told that all Stilts needed was someone who would feed him consistently and he'd be back to new. When we inquired about his leg that he pulls up, we were told that his leg was bruised during neuter surgery at the shelter but he'd be back to normal. After several weeks and his leg not going back to normal we received the devastating news. Stilts didn't have an injury to his leg at all. He needed emergency hip surgery and it had to be done NOW. We were all stunned and it came at a time when our rescue had so many dogs who were in need of surgeries and we didn't have the money. But he's our responsibility and he has to have the surgery so we did it and now we hope the community will join in and help us to pay for it.

Stilts is a young Min Pin/Chihuahua mix. He’s lovingly known as Stick, Stick Stickly, or Sticky Bun by his foster mom. He’s a little man who is so sweet and happy. He was in the hospital at the shelter and was being spoiled by a wonderful volunteer who brought him chicken every day to try to help him gain some weight. You see Stilts was another poor little man whose previous owner decided they’d just not feed him. Like so many we find he just needs a little TLC, some good nourishing food, and their amazing personalities just thrive!

He’s a very happy little guy who does seem to be a picky eater at first. But, after some time in his foster home he just follows along with his foster siblings and is now eating well. This will be a work in progress for a guy like him who was so horribly emaciated and who now has to face recovery from hip surgery. But, we expect a full recovery for this little man and recovery is far less painful then what he has lived with for however long with his hip. He loves to play with his foster brothers and sisters. He actually seems to completely forget about his hip when enjoying a good game of chase around the yard.

Dinnertime has become a very enjoyable time for him also. He sits and waits in full anticipation along with his foster siblings for his bowl to be set in front of him. There’s never a drop left after this little guy is done. He gets along great with other dogs big and small and does well with children. For his safety he will not be placed in a home with small children, because of his small fragile stature. He will put on a little chase with the cat, but after a few warning swats from her he leaves her alone. He really enjoys sitting in your lap and spending time with you where ever you are. He does well on a leash, enjoys a good walk, and loves to go for rides in the car. He’s truly a great little guy who will make a great family companion.
