Here's her story:
The voice on the other end of the phone was pleading. She said, “You’re her last chance.” What do you say when you know if you simply commit to a dog, they can live? There’s nothing worse then saying, “No,” hanging up the phone and knowing you just sealed a dog’s fate. Oh to have to make those decisions. There is nothing more excruciating. But sometime’s there isn’t any room, sometime’s there isn’t the finances and sometime’s there’s just nothing you can do?But this time, we were able to say.

She was a beautiful, 3 year old Maltese who was wonderfully tempered but she needed medical attention. Every rescue who had been called had passed on her and understandably so. Her surgery wasn’t going to be cheap. But we just couldn’t say no.

She’d probably lived most of her life with bladder stones. Ever had a bladder infection? Imagine living with that for 3 years. Imagine having the equivalent of kidney stones pain inside and not being able to communicate how bad your pain is? That’s what our little Snowball lived with and no one ever helped her.

With the skill of a wonderful vet, Snowball is now stone free and living pain free for possibly the first time. She’ll have to be on a diet for the rest of her life but that’s ok. That’s a small price to pay for being pain free. She’s a great little girl who is just learning to play. She loves others and gets along with everyone she has ever met. She’s even learning to be a little Diva, after all, she is a Maltese.

We’re grateful for those voices on the other end of the phone that will call and plead and beg on behalf of a dog. We’re equally grateful for the great folks in this rescue who willingly take on the challenges of dogs like Snowball and make a commitment to them.
