Hi !

My name is Henry. I have not had a very good time in this world. Food has always been scarce so my bones hurt right now and may not be developed right. I have a big heart and a happy outlook though. I have the energy to wag my tail and be your friend. I'm grateful they took me home because no one thought I was pretty and I know what was next -- they kept telling the woman who came to get me that they were going to euthanize me. That's a fancy word for kill me. They even tried to talk her out of me. They kept telling her that there were prettier, healthier dogs than me but that didn't stop her from saying she only wanted me!!! I am so happy there is food to eat and people to help me get better and find a " loving " home even though I may not be perfect. Here are pictures of my first night. I got a bath and it felt good! Good night!

(Note: Henry was rescued from the Devore Shelter on Tues. 1/10/2006. He came in weighing approximately 20lbs under weight, 2 types of mange and so emaciated that his bones and joints have not grown properly. However, he is not a lost cause as you will get to read his diary to recovery in Zara's List..)

Hi!
Henry here! I had a great nights sleep. Dad kept filling a water bottle for me to keep me warm. Isn't he nice? I had a great breakfast and mom brought home a coat for me. I stayed in the shower area while she cleaned my room and bed area. I am going out of my bed more for hugs but I get tired easily. Good night!

Hi, me again. Hey, you know that box I came into the shelter in? My foster mom keeps saying that she thinks that I always lived in that b/c I have so little muscle and if I was a stray my feet would be roughened. My feet are real smooth and my nails are LONG. One of my back legs tucks up like maybe it was broke at sometime. She's right you know.

Hi,
This is Henry. Today I felt like doing something besides resting so much. Mom took me out where I saw some really, really big dogs! Mom kept me away and said they were horses. I walked all around and it felt so good! I was out with my coat on for about 15 min. Mom let me walk back to the house. I was slow. Mom put me back to bed, but I wanted to play some more. My friend Kristen took me to the grass and let me walk and play some more. Then I was tired. Real good food and love here! Good night!

I am doing better today. I come out of my kennel and curl up in my foster mom or dad's lap and I give lots of kisses while my tail wags and wags and wags. Right now that's how I show I'm happy. I love the feel of companionship so I seek them out. Here are pictures of my legs tonight. Hopefully soon they will look better.

Hi, it's Henry again. I can't believe there are so many things I am learning and doing! Wow, is this what they call life?? Mom and dad gave me a ball tonight and a stuffed animal. I took them into my crate. I am hoarding my toys. I love it. I will find out what to do with them. They look pretty, and I will sleep with them. Can't wait for tomorrow! Good night,

Look everybody!! I have a cast now, so my broken ankle can get better! Dr. Bart and his helpers are so nice to me, and guess what. I gained 6 lbs. in two weeks! Can you believe it. I am feeling so much better now and am playing outside for longer times.

Hi everyone ! Henry here. Sorry I haven't written in a while. I got my cast off. My leg is still weak. I am playing out side with my friends and I love it! I sleep inside and play with my indoor buddies. I don't need my jacket much anymore. My hair is growing again. Here is a picture of me with my friend Captain. Don't we look alike? I am so happy and having fun! Bye for now,

Well folks. It's been a long haul. I came into the shelter in a box, barely able to hold up my head, with 2 types of mange, a fractured healed leg and now look at me... I have a stunning coat, I run and play with the best of them and even the vet didn't realize who I was when I went in for my neutering surgery. He couldn't believe that I would ever be this handsome. But I am! So, if you're looking for a buddy at home, hey, why not me? I'm a lover boy and I'm looking for just the right home. I deserve the best after my start in life. Is that your home?
