Harry
Harry is a 2 year old tiny Deer Chihuahua who looks like a puppy. While at the sheltering checking out another Chihuahua, our volunteer saw him. He's 4lbs, fawn colored and was turned into the shelter because had mange. This poor 4lb Chihuahua was sitting in a cold sterile cage shaking with not a lick of hair on his body. But as soon as he saw our volunteer was interested in him, he was up and bounding towards her. He acts like a playful pup and has no idea that there is anything wrong with him. And in our view, there isn't!

Demodectic Mange is a microscopic mite that all dogs live with, but under unhealthy, stressful, and bad living conditions the dogs immune system suffers and the mite takes over. This causes a horribly uncomfortable condition for the dog and if not treated a dog ends up looking like Harry - hairless!

Unfortunately, our little buddy Harry went untreated so long before being turned into the shelter and now will have a longer healing time. But, he's young, otherwise healthy and expected to make a complete recovery. Yep. That means he'll have all his hair back! Harry's getting special nutrients in his diet and veterinary care to help him win his immune deficient battle with mange. After settling in at his foster home, he almost immediately began to grow back his hair. He actually has tiny little blossoming follicles all over his body now.

He's in a foster home with other dogs and cats, and gets along with everyone. He loves to pal around with his foster siblings, and play with the nearest squeaky toy or tennis ball. He truly has a very happy go lucky way about him and is always excited to see you. He's a sweet and loving little man to top it all off. Once he's ready for adoption he will make the perfect addition to any family looking for a tiny itty bitty dog with an extremely playful personality.
