She was huddled in the corner, a black and white mess of feces and fur grown together. The hair was so matted around her eyes, it was impossible to tell what would soon be obvious to the naked eye, this little girl was blind. At some point her eyes stopped producing natural tears and despite a $3 medicine that would have saved her eyesight, she was never given it and now she suffers the consequences. Her one eye was so infected that eventually it had to be removed by our vet.

Dandelion, affectionately known as Dandy, had feces stuck to her bottom and all conceivable places around her legs, belly and on her back. It had been a long time since she had seen a groomer or a vet. She was so filthy, they found maggots on her vulva. She was obviously severely neglected. Her initial grooming was so traumatic for her, she passed out and stopped breathing. The groomer had to revive her. Even now Dandy's hesitant to let anyone brush her. But slowly and with love she'll learn to appreciate the feel of a brush on her and being clean and free of filth.

She was obviously fed, as she is not underweight, and miracle of miracles, her teeth are in good shape.

Dandy's got a sweet personality, but HATES to be penned up when her foster mom is gone. She instantly took to the doggie door and even managed to escape out of a patio, once thought to be very secure but apparently not Dandelion proof! So she's learning to accept her boundaries when her mom is gone and learning to appreciate the love and concern from humans. She had a long road to go and she's managed to bounce back magnificently. She will make a wonderful companion for someone who wants love and wants to give love and know that they made a world of difference in the life of a dog....
