Victoria found our rescue after losing her beloved Trail. He was a Lab/Shep. who had given years of devotion to the McAuley family and then bid his farewell and crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He left behind a heartbroken family and a “mom” who was devastated. Victoria knew in her heart there would never be another Trail but she knew she had love to give and had a void in her house that needed to be filled. And so the adventure began…

Eventually after fostering several litters and a few adults, the McAuley’s found goofball heaven in Sarge, the Pit/Lab. The McAuley’s had previously had Chava a Pit bull that they had loved until the end of his life which was cut short by cancer and they knew what an incredible breed Pits are with their loyalty characteristics and their undying love for their family. So after fostering Pit Mom, Savannah, and surviving the devastating loss of several of her pups to distemper, Victoria knew she was keeping Sarge.

Sarge joined 7 year old Sammy, an ACD (Australian Cattle Dog), 4 cats, 2 birds and a hamster. But most importantly he joined three adoring kids: Erin, 10, Jacob 7 and Brooke 2. The kids join in helping Mom in her adventures in fostering. They were most recently there to help whelp a mom and pups. They are learning from a young age the value of taking care of our companion animals and what a lifetime commitment means within their own home. It’s an active family that still gives time to helping our companion animals. You will never hear Victoria say she doesn’t have time or energy but that’s not because she’s Superwoman (though we have thoughts of checking her DNA!) rather she has a commitment to the pets in our community and feels a responsibility to be a part of finding them homes. We’re grateful and we know there are many, many dogs alive now because of the McAuley’s!
