Tamee Gunnell & Boys
Home of Chow Lovers!...

Tamee adopted her gorgeous Sheba (a stunning smooth coated Chow mix) from a rescue on the East Coast. She had been abandoned with her babies and it wasn't the babies that Tamee and the boys (Dalton and Kyle) were interested in. No, they knew they'd get a home but it was the beautiful, scared mommy that they wanted to take home and make their own. And so they did. They've endured the Sheba-Houdini antics of escaping every yard (except their current one...but we're waiting...and Sheba's looking...) and the scared looks on folks faces when Tamee explains Sheba is a Chow and no there's no reason to be afraid! Nothing fazes this family. They love their breed and love their Sheba...So much so, that Sheba traveled with them when they moved clear across the United States to sunny, So. California. They landed in Corona and that's where we met!
Fellow Chow lovers. They are a special breed and they are always welcome in this group. Tamee and her sons came into the pet store one day where we were and struck up a conversation about Chows and rescue in general. It was the beginning of a great partnership.
And the Dynamic Duo of Dalton and Kyle can usually be found wrestling or playing sports or crawling on the floor with the latest puppy to come into the house. These two fantastic boys have a contagious enthusiasm that even on an off day, can make you smile. They are the primary caretakers of their dogs, their two cats and the latest foster to cross the threshold.
But there was one foster that they just couldn't give up. His name is Charlie. He's a black, long haired Chow-Chow. He'd been a favorite of an LA City shelter and there had been emails going around for months asking a rescue to save him. So Tamee volunteered to foster him and we took him in. Of course he never left our rescue. He made himself at home and every weekend there seemed to be one reason after another that Charlie wasn't coming to adoptions. After awhile it was clear, HE WAS NEVER COMING. And so, he joined sister Sheba and the boys and became a permanent member of the family.
But no tribute would be fitting without a word about the 2 senior cats in the home who through many moves, two children, two dogs and many fosters have endured. DJ and Q-Tip are the 17 year old cats who rule the roost. Two gorgeous cats who have lived a fantastic life with Tamee and her sons and now 2 Chows.
Our rescue is blessed to have a caring family such as this one to help us continue to save animals.
